These runes were designed by Sam (Caocoohee) Thomas, Cindy
Thomas, and Lisa Severn. Sam told me that the designs
and meanings came from his Grandmother who was on the
other side. She was there the night I met Sam in York,
insisting I get a set. So I did. I had always used tarot
cards before but these intrigued me. They tend to be right
on with details ie; somtimes the meaning in the book is
exactly what is meant. More so than with the Tarot. That
is why I still use the book, then I lay on hands and get
the vibes off of it. Then again I don't really need anything
at all to do a reading!
Native medicine runes can have many meanings. While they
might not be known to all they are known to those who can interpret them
and the same can be said for the medicine
wheels of Native Americans. Just like the medicine runes, the medicine
wheel and it's meaning has been shrouded in mystery. Perhaps it was
something that was used in medicine
for Native Americans or maybe something else completely. Learning
about and appreciating
other cultures is a great way to see how they used items, like
medicine runes and wheels, and thus gaining a better understanding of the
world around us.
